Hi-Rez Announces $600,000 SMITE World Championship

Today Hi-Rez the developer of the third-person mythological MOBA SMITE announced the SMITE World Championship with $600,000 in the prize pool. That makes SMITE the third MOBA to enter the eSports arena with prize money sponsored by it’s own developer and publisher.

The championship is scheduled to be held on January 9th through the 11th of next year. Hosted close to the headquarters of Hi-Rez Studio in it’s hometown of Atlanta. 2750 seats will be available at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre for you to see the top two teams from North America, Europe, China ,Brazil and the Spanish-speaking portion of South America to battle it out.

Hi-Rez has also rumoured that they will use crowdfunding via community contributions and exclusive content sales to boost the initial prize pool even higher.
